About us

A practical, statewide approach to protecting California.

Golden State Land Conservancy is a nationally accredited land trust protecting working lands, wild places, and open space across California — from Humboldt to San Diego.

Who we are

Golden State Land Conservancy is a nonprofit, nationally accredited land trust. We protect land permanently, through conservation easements and preserves, and we commit to stewarding that land for generations to come. Our work spans the full length of the state, from the North Coast to the Sierra foothills to Southern California.

How we work

We solve conservation challenges through creative partnerships and practical solutions. We work alongside landowners, public agencies, Tribal communities, developers, and local organizations so that growth, working lands, and environmental protection reinforce one another rather than compete.

Every acre counts. Many land trusts won’t consider a project below a couple thousand acres. We will, even a single acre, whenever protecting it helps the land and the communities and wildlife that depend on it.

Our reach

Today we help protect working ranches, redwood forests, wetlands, vineyards, and open space the full length of the state. Explore the landscapes we protect on our Preserves page, or reach out through Contact.
