Our Mission
Land, protected for good.
A statewide, collaborative land trust conserving California’s landscapes and stewarding them for generations.
Why we exist
The land can’t wait.
Communities face increasing pressure from development, climate change, habitat loss, wildfire, water scarcity, and the loss of working lands. Golden State Land Conservancy helps communities navigate those challenges by protecting the natural systems that support clean water, wildlife, agriculture, recreation, and climate resilience, forever.
What we believe
Our mission
A statewide, collaborative land trust dedicated to safeguarding California’s landscapes through land conservation, innovative conservation solutions, and the long-term stewardship of easements that benefit people, wildlife, and future generations.
Our vision
A future where California’s landscapes thrive through collaboration, innovation, and enduring stewardship, benefiting people, wildlife, and the land itself.
Our values
- Integrity and accountability
- Responsible stewardship
- Collaboration, equity, and respect
- Professional excellence and resilience
What makes us different
Every acre counts.
There’s no minimum acreage for conservation. If protecting a piece of land benefits wildlife, habitat, or the surrounding landscape, it matters.
-
01
No parcel too small
A single acre of creek frontage can matter more than a thousand acres of anything else.
-
02
Creative partnerships
Landowners, agencies, developers, tribal communities and local groups at the same table.
-
03
Stewardship that lasts
Protection is the first day of the commitment, not the last. We stay with the land.

Why conservation matters
Clean water, habitat, working farms, fire and climate resilience, groundwater, recreation, the returns protected land pays out forever.
Over the coming years, GSLC will concentrate on durable conservation and renewed stewardship, rebuilding trust through consistent practice and the collaboration of the partners and supporters who carry this work forward.
