Golden State Land Conservancy (“GSLC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website at gslc.org (the “Site”), make a donation, subscribe to our communications, or otherwise interact with us.

Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. When you fill out a form, make a donation, subscribe to our newsletter, submit a landowner or project inquiry, register for an event, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, organization, and any information you choose to include in your message.
Donation information. When you make a donation through our website, we collect information such as your name, mailing address, email address, and the amount of your gift. Online payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor; your payment card details are handled directly by Stripe and are not collected or stored on GSLC's own systems. We manage donor records in Little Green Light (LGL), our donor management system.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, and pages viewed. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies, including our website host (Cloudflare) and analytics tools (Google Analytics).
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and provide information you request;
- Process donations and send tax acknowledgment receipts;
- Send newsletters, updates, and event invitations, which you can unsubscribe from at any time;
- Administer our conservation programs, events, and volunteer activities;

Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small data files placed on your device that help websites function and remember your preferences. Our Site uses a limited number of cookies and similar technologies, which generally fall into two categories: essential cookies that keep the Site working and secure, and analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.
We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated information such as which pages are visited and how visitors arrive at the Site. This information helps us improve our content and is not used to personally identify you.

- Service providers who help us operate, such as our website host, email service provider, and donation processor, who are authorized to use your information only to perform services for us;
- Legal compliance, when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of GSLC, our supporters, or others; and
- Business or organizational changes, such as a merger or transfer of operations to another nonprofit, in which case your information would remain subject to a comparable privacy commitment.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including secured systems within Microsoft 365. Board members and volunteers who access our secure online portal do so through Cloudflare's Zero Trust platform, which verifies each person's identity before granting access. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your California Privacy Rights
GSLC is based in California. Depending on the circumstances and on which laws apply, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to opt out of certain communications. To make a request, contact us using the information below, and we will respond consistent with applicable law.
(Many privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act, apply primarily to for-profit businesses; their applicability to GSLC as a nonprofit should be confirmed with counsel.)
